designer's own words:

deco.reco #1

a door handle first of all serves a function, is the medium that enable us to open a door, in order to enter or exit a space. despite design, the function always stays the same.

throughout history many door handles have been made; some became classic, and many have been forgotten.

our inspiration is a baroque, louis xiv style, door handle that has become classic and characterized a glamorous period with excessive ornamentation. today may seem either outdated or extravagant. but a design that has become classic means that there is something there, that makes it special.

in cubism, the object is broken up, analyzed and re-assembled in an abstracted form. relating our process with the cubistic experiments, we try to keep the essence of a classic door handle by deconstructing and reconstructing it, combining our contemporary viewpoint with the glamour of another era.

deco.reco is a system that deconstructs the detailed ornamentation uncovers and highlights the form and the shape, staining and focusing on its basic characteristics.
the deconstructed door handle from a distance gives the impression of an old classic one, but with a closer look one can easily understand the reduction of its ornamentation and its reconstruction into triangular shapes.

deco.reco links the past with the present as a bipolar interpretation of classic and modern.

deco.reco #1 can be 3d printed in silver, stainless steel and gold plated stainless steel.
