designer's own words:

people around the world have different hygiene habits.
most of them are too concerned while only a few give it a damn.
hence many people get tense before touching the public toilet door handle.
one cannot be sure of its cleanliness and amount of germs on it left by others.
while they are left with no other option.
the design allows them to use their feet to operate public toilet door as seen and described in the images.

(optional design detail:
as the pedal is attached to a wire rope going all the way up to the lock. the cam may or may not be there, if the wire rope itself can solve the purpose. this can be studied and determined by a practical.
the door hinges can be placed tilted in such a way that there is no need for the spring. the door can always have a tendency to close itself and come back to its normal position because of gravity and its own weight.
the design also works in case the locking system fails for any unexpected reason, as one can still manually lock it using hand.)
