Hyperbolic Paraboloid by òscar valldosera albà from spain
designer's own words:
this work is the result of two initial ideas that structure, from the genesis, the path to follow within the production concept of this door handle.
first, the quest for simplicity of lines, trying to move away from past design related discourses. commodity and functionality, respecting all of the established standards and thinking about daily use, organizes the first axis of design.
second, the geometric use of the hyperbolic paraboloid to shape a tempting door handle. to be specific, I have played with the one leaf hyperboloid of revolution, which became a trademark in Gaudi’s architecture. this surface originates by the rotation of an ellipse around one of its symmetry axes, generating a visually attractive and functional door handle.
