DOOR_handle by ben kilbee from uk
designer's own words:
the main feature is the lack of any ‘rose’ for mounting the handle to the door or any obvious fixings being visible. each pair of handles clamp onto the square shaft (see drawing) by way of simple, discrete 3mm grub screws.
the pivoting action is provided by using a plastic bush on each side that is a push fit into the door material. the plastic bush (which could be made from a range of suitable materials - ptfe, nylon, acetal etc) is moulded with small teeth on the outer face that pushes into the door, much like a cog. this prevents the bush pivoting in the door rather than the handle pivoting in the bush.
the handle itself is a simple, slender cast aluminium design and of course could be all manner of shapes.
one advantage of this overall design is the small number of parts - only 7 in total and that includes the grub screws.
