han tang : amethyst by han tang from china
designer's own words:
this project is based on the polymorphism of crystalline formation. the most interesting part in crystal is that a single module can aggregates (or subdivides) to form a very complex geometry by a large number of population. every module acts as micro-environments serving simultaneously continually updating the global formation. local hierarchies begin to develop, while an overall coherence and continuity is maintained.
the component logic of this space is polyscalar: self-similar algorithmic tiles operate across scales to form a continuous tectonic, where the legibility of discrete tectonic hierarchies dissolve. through this disintegration of hierarchy a new set of intensive affects emerge.
han tang is a chinese architect and designer. han holds a master in architecture from university of pennsylvania and is a graduate of tianjin university(b.arch). han has considerable experience in the design and construction of high profile projects and currently work as an architect in aedas ltd. (hk). han's design research is focused on emergent design methodologies to work across scales in a range of fields including architecture, landscape architecture, industrial design, fashion design and painting.
