Open a door? Such an object that give you the possibility to travel between spaces...
Inspired by dynamic architectures, mechanic objects, and natural structures…I wanted to recreate the natural rotation movement of opening a door. I like simplicity and functionality. “The shape follows the function”. This object moves by itself. Thanks to its TWIST structure we have this impression of perpetual movement.
I had the chance to create a sample of my concept with layers of cardboard in order to feel the comfort of my project. The TWIST handle follows the shape of your hand.
Only aluminum has been used for this concept. The body of the handle is only one molded piece. The aluminum has the advantage to be sustainable thanks to his recyclability possibility. With aluminum, lots of different aspects of surface are possible.
It is a perfect material for designer: esthetic, light, strong and easy to use in production.
