Bau handle by konstantinos ioannidis from greece
designer's own words:
this project attempts to break down the door handle into its basic components and to recompose those into a new minimalist / functionalist design. material economy and convenience during the production process are basic factors which were taken into account.
each component simply follows the form of what it stands for. the rotating central part of the handle is square-profiled thus regenerating the form of the central spindle of the door handle. the knob is a thick iron plate attached to the squared axis and it is designed for maximizing the moment of the force that is used to move the spindle. a square rose is used to cover the bore hole of the door.
this design can be applied in all available materials, from plastic to aluminium and from brass to plexi-glass and also it is economic as it is composed only by a few parts and with no need of complicated production moulds.
