designer's own words:

I conceived the design of "tais" to cater to all demographics who would use the door handle keeping in mind very young, small users, to older users with weak grips who might have difficulty in using door handles. ----features: the main feature of "tais" is its rounded profile overmolded with bonded rubber on the outer and inner surfaces of the handgrip. the longer handle also gives a better leverage than smaller standard handles. ----straight door handles can catch clothing and cause injury when a person passing through accidentally comes in contact with the handle. the hooked end of "tais" prevents snagging on clothes and minimized injury. ----while safety features exist for hinges; foam sponge contraptions keep doors from fully closing, but these do not address the inherent danger of the sharp profile of most door handles. small children who are at eye-level with door handles face additional hazards of eye/head/face injury while passing through doors wih sharp metal handles while at play and are unmindful of their surroundings. ----older people with weak grips will appreciate the large handgrip of "tais" with comfortable rubberized pull and push surfaces, while the triangular shape conforms perfecly to a persons grip. the hooked end serves both as a safety feature as provides an additional surface to push down on, even if the hand grip is too weak to hold the straight section of the handle. ----"tais" is a bilaterally symmetrical design which can be used both left-handed or right handed. ----materials: the base materials can range from stainless steel or aluminium alloys to high impact strength 'abs' or technopolymers overmolded with bonded rubber. ----colors & finishes: "tais" can be produced in a variety of natural metals or manufactured using coordinated or contrasting colored plastic and rubber.
