bringing some much-needed lightness to the surreal state of current affairs, josh cohen shares his short video on ‘how not to touch your face in contagious times’. from donning a suit of armor to wrapping himself in a plastic bubble, the brooklyn-based designer offers some inventive, but not so practical ways to avoid touching your face and spreading potentially harmful germs.

the piece brings to mind a personal service announcement video, although with a much more whimsical approach. with 10 tips in total, cohen takes viewers from the kinky (the gimp mask), to the comical (the plastic bubble), and even to the plain repulsive… (wait for it).

cohen filmed the piece just before initial restriction measures were put into place in new york city, with a bare-bones crew of two (DP and prop master) who maintained correct social distancing throughout the project. shelter-in-place policies soon followed, so all the post-production for the project was done on a remote basis. everything to make the film was kept as minimal as possible, and you can find it here on vimeo.
