hop by LAYER x ODA is a modular bag that transitions from office to airport

designed by benjamin hubert of LAYER in collaboration with hong kong based start-up ODA, ‘hop’ isn’t just a backpack, but a modular system that adapts into three different bags. designed to cater for busy lifestyles, the piece seamlessly transitions from weekday to weekend, and from work to leisure.

hop comes in two different components, an everyday backpack and a shoulder bag, which can be magnetically fixed together to form a single piece of carry-on luggage – ideal for short weekend trips. this modular set up envisioned by benjamin hubert of LAYER allows users to move around easily with minimal fuss. going from the office to the airport all in one simple snap.

the unique modular design of the hop system means that the capacity of the bag can be extended in the future, reducing waste and the use of extra materials. the design team’s plan is to create a system that allows you to upgrade the set with new and different units that can be combined with the existing piece. instead of owning many redundant bags with similar features, the hop set is designed to be the only one that you need.
