Calla Lily watering can by gerasimina sarantopoulos from uk
designer's own words:
Calla Lily is a watering can which is designed to collect rain water. Its shape is inspired by the upper part of calla lily flower and it functions in a similar way: the upper surface is maximised so it can collect a high amount of rain water. It is meant to be used in balconies, patios and back yards, where the use of large water buds is practically and aesthetically inapt.
Its shape derives from a thorough observation of natural water collecting mechanisms (leaves, flower petals, insects), having a maximised wide surface looking upwards in the sky with the aim of collecting as much rainwater as possible. The upper surface inspired by the calla lily flower upper part, is both an aesthetic and functional decision. The main body of the watering can is based on conventional corresponding items altered in a way in which the Calla Lily can be hanged on a balcony frame so it can be exposed to rain fall. Its size is similar to a conventional watering can, adequate in capacity for watering small interior flowers and plants as well as being light enough to be carried around in one hand.
Its organic elegant shape makes it an item of high aesthetic value as well as a product with purpose and meaning, targeting both in eco-identity with uncompromised fresh and current aesthetics.
