SUB.WATER

Just like all over the world a current problem in Mexico City, is tap water scarcity. This problem arises due to our unconsciousness when using our natural resources resulting in an impulsive waste.

This project recommends a new approach of water usage, like a new way of life.
It keeps a green design in its materials as well as in its inner atmosphere.

Regular showers drain around 26 liters of water per minute, which means that one person spends 300 liters of water per shower, its all wasted water, in Mexico it is canalized through municipal sewage systems.

This project proposes reusing all this water and it is centered on the survival system of dessert plants.

As a result, sub.water surfaces, as a water collecting system for the shower that storages dirty water to supply the commode. Sub.water consists of a shower and a cluster of pipelines working like a fountain. The system collects water from the shower floor and drains it into a tank that uses a solar pump to propel this water into four pipes which are connected to a bamboo design where water makes an intricate route to its final destination, the commode pipeline supply. Water is kept in within the pipelines until the commode is flushed.

The bamboo pipelines design is not a riddle; it is based on Mexico’s subway system…water in movement.

Before their use, the bamboo sticks are coated using a waterproof glaze in order to avoid moisture absorption which could cause weakening. The bamboo sticks are clustered together by jute rope and their edges are sealed with strained concrete in order to avoid any leaks and allowing the water to continue its route. Every joint between bamboos is punctured in order to allow the water flow through the rest of the pipeline.
