user participation recycled item collection space street furniture by shu juan tan from singapore
designer's own words:
It is not just another recycling concept. It’s a piece of art in which anyone can take part in making.
Recycling bins are often abused in public areas, containing not just the recyclable items but also cigarettes and food. The objective of this design is to create a space that not just encourages recycling, but a space that beautify the surroundings. It is designed in an enclosed space, so as to allow the sunlight permeates the transparent frames projecting shadows and hitting the colourful bottles/cans, creating both a spectrum of colours by reflection. It can hold both bottles and cans of different sizes. The structure of this design is taken from honeycombs.
It is a street furniture, a sculpture and a recycling space that can be placed anywhere along the street in the city.
