designer's own words:

Jüli

“.Jüli” (paddy field in Lotha, Naga) – Self sustaining, Communal, Nurturing and Harmonious. I definitely not envisage this design as a revolutionary or of great innovation but I find joy in the fact that the simple and quaint elements of a rural life can be brought into a modern environment in the form of a concrete structure whereby the building is a living and productive structure with the hope to succeed in reducing and even eliminating many of the ill effects caused by modern implements and practices. As it can be noticed, the form of this design is a definite adaptation of terrace fields which are a common sight in many parts of South East Asia where the self – sustaining village culture and mindset is definitely what modern souls need to learn and hopefully adapt for a better future of our planet.
