designer's own words:
The Art Wood Path is a temporary space for outdoor art exhibition. This proposal introduces an art space directly connected to a well-used pedestrian street. Users are first greeted by a cozy wooden path as they approach the gallery space, while the exhibition structure protects them from intense sunlight during the day. Fragrance of the woods as well as gentle breeze further permeates through the two entrances and the openings between the wood panels.
The form was conceived to avoid direct sunlight and rain drops, hence first determining the angle of the slanted wood panels and later the inclination angle of the roof. Openings among panels also allow spectators to appreciate art, outer scenery and people passing the street simultaneously.
Two compositional elements – panel and frame – are flexible for creating different sizes of the exhibition space depending on how many panels and C-frames are used. When exposed space is necessary, for instance for performance art, their assembling method can be easily modified. Movable brackets allow maximum layout options for various art pieces, and finally the opening inside each wood panel, which can be shifted laterally, creates dramatic expressions both on the façade and the framing space of art works.
