designer's own words:

“21st century design is the philosophy that suggests harmony of humanity and nature”. We live in a world where big leaps in technology will always enable us to coexist with nature. However it will always remain our soul responsibility to understand nature and to live with it. No bright-green product will have as much profound impact on our environment as a person that acts to save the environment. Tortegrini is a first and simple step to apply that responsibility in practice. Based on the shape of a tortellini, an Italian pasta dish, where the filling is what makes a good tortellini. It’s a square bag (1.5m by 1.5m) that can be filled with all the old waste you would simply throw away, and is used as a beanbag lounge chair. It’s a simple step to get people to be creative with their waste and recycling. Think about old clothing, pillows, plastic bags, foam mattresses, polystyrene packaging in which your TV comes in (which is very difficult to recycle). To further minimize the impact on the environment, each Tortegrini is made from 100% organic cotton. Organic cotton can be grown in colors (earth tones, greens and yellows), which eliminates the use of chemical dyes. Tortegrinis are cheap to make with minimal impact on the environment. It’s a simple and easy way to get creative with the stuff you throw out. Just stick it in a Tortegrini and sit on it.
