purpose built moto restyles ducati GT1000 modern classic motorcycle

having aged over 50,000 km (31,068 miles), purpose built moto refined and renewed a 1000 cc modern classic, the ducati GT1000 cafe racer. its natural italian red paint was retained across the body – although with a full re-spray – and is accentuated by both large blacked out elements and small highly polished details. the result styles a sleek, well-proportioned sports motorcycle destined for many more road trips.

the custom studio’s design for the project began with the selection of the seat. accented with perforated leather, their hand-made seat was chosen by the client, which meant much of the bodywork could remain the same. at the front, the lighting was completely replaced with a dominant slim headlight. a clean, tidy tail was then crafted with a set of tiny yet bright LED indicators and an LED strip brake light that was recessed into the frame.

as well as the stock gauges, the bars and levers have also been replaced and lowered in the design. this provides a much sportier riding position that is then further enhanced by performance modifications. the front forks were stripped, anodized and rebuilt with fully adjustable cartridges, while the rear suspension was swapped for k-tech razor shocks. although with plenty of mileage, this ensures the motorcycle brings back its legendary ducati handling.
