whistlejacket by aurelien thomas from uk
designer's own words:
My design, a take on the classic equestrian Hermes theme, is based on a re-interpretation of the famous oil painting “Whistlejacket”, by Georges Stubbs (1762) owned by the National Portrait Gallery, London. A line drawing of a horse, inspired by the painting, is repeated at different scales all over the cloth in 2 colours (lime and magenta) and black. The drawings are superimposed, creating a “yarn” of lines in some areas while some other parts of the pattern are distinctively showing the horse. The drawing itself combines a computer generated look and an attention to detail. Set against a white background, the lines offer a really crisp contrast, reflecting Hermes’s image of elegance.
