this hyper-detailed LEGO delorean even comes with a micro-sized flux capacitor

out of all the DIY details that make up this LEGO delorean, doc brown would probably be most proud of the windshield wipers that are in fact, look closely, ninja swords. doc brown, of course, is the inventor of the flux capacitor, as well as the disgraced scientist in steven spielberg’s back to the future series, played by christopher lloyd. in the past year, LEGO mclarens, LEGO f-150s and LEGO wheelchairs for turtles have inspired brickers to keep on bricking, but there is something to be said here about dave slater, the inventor of this back to the future homage. based on the design of dave’s flux capacitor, him and doc seem to think a lot alike.

the flux capacitor (and this will be the only spoiler) is what makes time travel possible. as the quintessential component separating the back to the future delorean from any other old delorean, dave slater needed to do the flux justice. while many creators might have overthought its design, or used non-LEGO pieces to make it look perfect, dave chose to think like doc. 

dave did not steal plutonium. instead, he was as resourceful as any disgraced inventor and used one of the most overlooked of all bricks: hands. yes, a trifecta of LEGO hands create the Y-shaped device responsible for time travel. seen below, the hands, along with the ninja swords, are just a few of the details dave used to pull off this recreation. take a look yourself and see if you notice anything else that might make christopher lloyd blush with nostalgia.
