Raia

Raia by douglas silva from brazil

designer's own words:

RAIA brings the feeling of freedom to the user by allowing a great variety of position adjustments. Due to the RAIA´s flexibility, it can assume plenty of shapes, controlling the direction and the amount of light scattered in the environment.

Basically, it is made of three different kinds of rubber. The first is located at the top and works like a lid that gives access to the battery in a particular corner of the product. This part has an inlaid steel net that keeps the chosen position. The second, at the middle, is a translucent rubber that has the function of supporting the LEDS, the battery and the wires. The last is entirely transparent having the function of protecting the lights by covering the bottom of RAIA.

This lights works with a small battery. The on/off button is almost imperceptible, located under the top rubber in one of its corners, where there is a plug for charging it. RAIA's minimalist approach says that the most important thing in here is the lighting itself. Bringing, then, the sensation of handling pure light.
