polestar 2 car delivers smart, electric mobility with avant-garde design

ahead of its debut at the 2019 geneva motor show, polestar – volvo’s electric performance brand – reveals the second of its trio of new cars. it follows the two-door model ‘1′ in 2017 by going a segment above as an all-electric, five-door fastback. the premium compact car once again showcases electric mobility in an avant-garde style.

the polestar ‘2’ coincidentally employs two electric motors along with a 78kwh battery capacity. producing 408hp and 600nm of torque, this not only races from 0-62mph in less than five seconds but also offers a range of 310 miles per full charge. the battery pack is composed of 27 modules that are integrated into the floor of the car, which helps the rigidity of its chassis. this improves the noise, vibrations and harshness levels from friction with the road.

the new car provides a smarter, more convenient and extensive electric experience than ever before. its charging enhances a digital solution that connects owners to the world’s largest public charging network. furthermore, inside, its infotainment system is powered by android – one of first cars to do so. the adaptable digital environment is cohabited by apps and vehicle functions. it also brings google services into the car, such as google assistant, maps and the play store.

this highly smart and connect electric mobility system is housed with an avant-garde design. ‘[it] has evolved from polestar 1 into an edgier, bolder statement,’ explains maximilian missoni, head of design at polestar. the clean and pure exterior body is fitted with pixel LED headlights, frameless side mirrors, and valve caps and brake caliipers in their signature gold color. this continues in the vegan interior where gold seat belts contrast with the dark, progressive textiles.
