multi-award-winning designer kati meyer-brühl, the creative force behind furniture manufacturer brühl, is renowned for designs that are as poetic as their names, such as ‘airy’, ‘libellule princess’ or ‘belami high’. the beautiful sounding names hint at their unique characteristics: the designer’s closeness to nature, which is one of her constant sources of inspirations, or their typical lightness. above all, however, the furniture reflects her deep-rooted conviction that a well-designed piece must be able to adapt to the changing needs of people and that is must also be sustainable, long-lasting and eco-friendly.

her latest creation, ‘airy’, is a super flexible piece of seating furniture that intentionally removes the boundaries between different zones in a home to create one living space for relaxing, sleeping and socializing. it is ideal for people that value few possessions, which must therefore be highly functional. the basic element, a sofa of approximately the same dimensions as a bed, is equipped with four fully adjustable rest elements that can be changed from horizontal to angled and to almost vertical positions. its ergonomics ensure that the design promotes an overall more dynamic and healthier way of sitting. owners can also decide to add various additional elements to meet their respective needs.

rich minimalism with a lasting value: easy pieces metal

the design language of the high back chair ‘libellule princess’ is refreshingly multifaceted; it features decorative stitching details that run around the entire seat and recalls both nature as well as the 19th century empire style. it is an unusual highlight in any environment – and also goes perfectly with other pieces of furniture. in combination with soft cushions, the slender, wing-like backrest provides outstanding comfort. however, its lightweight design and compact basic dimensions ensures it is easy to move.

this usage flexibility also characterizes the multi-award-winning design ‘easy pieces’. in terms of its construction, the sofa consists merely of a frame and cushions. however, the contrast between the voluminous on the one hand and the lightness on the other gives the piece a subtle nonchalance as well as a strong presence, both of which make the design so unique. removing the cushions on the sides and back instantly creates a comfortable resting place.
