the mookkie pet bowl uses facial recognition to spot your cat and feed it food

italian company volta, a specialist in the development of AI-centric products, debuts mookkie at CES 2019, a smart pet bowl that recognizes your pet. using facial recognition technology not dissimilar to that installed on your smartphone, mookie visually recognizes your pet and opens the flap to feed him or her. linking to the desired pet and only the desired pet, mookkie bans domestic food thieves and assures that your cat or dog gets the right amount and of daily food as intended.

volta artificial intelligence powers the visual recognition system of mookkie. a front-facing camera sees the approaching animals capturing images which processed through a deep neural network that establishes if the approaching animal is the pet associated to the smart pet bowl. the flap over the bowl gets opened only when the paired pet is nearby mookkie.

mookkie was designed with two users in mind: the pet and the owner. the food storage bowl is easy to remove and efficiently repositions itself thanks to a magnetic interface. the bowl’s shape is highly ergonomic, reachable from every point and thus accessible by every type of animal. mookkie also provides notifications and short video clips through the dedicated smartphone app, with an interface that allows for a two-way flow of information.
