humboldt™ by robert eric wendrich from netherlands
designer's own words:
Industrial design of a lectern, as an integral part of the architectural- and interior design for a high-tech Virtual Reality Laboratory at the University of Twente in the Netherlands.
The original idea was sketched and envisioned by hand,
3d computer modellation and prototyping using 3d printing resulted in the final design. Corian® has been chosen because of the formability, the esthetic and functional qualities and colour options.
The 3d surfaces of the computational model were a real challenge for the manufacturer, thermoforming and hand-forming both were used to complete the project. We took extreme advantage of the material properties and the seamless look of this exciting solid surface material, LED lighting, audio and computer equipment are integrated.
