CODEX

CODEX by sergio calatroni artroom from italy

designer's own words:

Each material sends out its own, peculiar, energy.
Energy contained in the elements that compose it; elements coming from the earth, substances more rarer and more precious.
If raw material's availability is a decisive factor to place value on materials, oil by-products are, today, are among the more precious.
A sculpture that enriches the corian as a jewel and combines it with materials as stone and pmma, burdening them with symbolic significances.
The surfaces are decorated further through adaptable photosensitive films.
- The PMMA, syntetic matter consisting of methyl methacrylate polymers, more transparent than the glass.
It represents light, color, immateriality, space.
- The Basalt, originates from a magma, quickly solidified in contact with air or water.
It represents the earth, the primitive force of nature.
- The Corian, by-product of pure acrylic polymers and natural materials.
It’s compact, mouldable, uniform.
-The Opal, stone formed of silicon and water, semiprecious.
It represents the innumerable colourway fantasies, nature’s creations uniqueness.
