Y round by matthew boyko from usa
designer's own words:
This proposal is about re-examining the typology of a widely used, ubiquitous small appliance, the rice cooker. The (urban) kitchen is about economy of space, however rice cookers are seemingly immune to this criteria. They are round, primarily having been based on the typology of the stovepot. 48% of the worlds population lives in urban environments, and their living space is becoming increasingly smaller. Millions of people throughout the world use rice as base food, and do so by utilizing an electric cooker on the counter, a shelf or floor. The modern kitchen countertops and cabinets can no longer support the required real estate for these round cookers. In short, its time to thin down.
