meanwhile, BCC also hosted FREE!, an alternative, non-commercial contemporary art fair that brought together some of the world’s most recognized and pioneering artists. FREE! investigated nominal concepts of race, gender, nationality, sexuality, and religion through experiential and participatory installations, video and performance. the artists explored the notions of borders and divisions — both physical and ideological. FREE! engaged with public spaces in the shopping center, with each activation addressing ideas of healing, empathy and connectivity, to inspire, reflect and encourage participation from the public.
