roddy

designer's own words:

The idea behind roddy is to provide a simple but cool work station where a teenager can explore the internet, do their homework and play games in comfort. roddy is designed in particular for laptop computers and echoes the sleek curves and finish of the latest technology. The power socket and telephone port allow the computer to run directly from the table, which is itself plugged directly into the wall. The light fitting adds illumination and demarks roddy as a table with a particular purpose; to study, to learn, to explore.

roddy can come in flatpack form for home assembly ready wired but with screw fittings, or already assembled and welded together. I see roddy in a range of strong colours such as signal red, lime green or orange; but also in white or the ubiquitous teenage black. roddy stands 800mm tall and 620mm square.
