the custom design mini egg-shaped turntable by audio deva

following the kickstarter success of its platterless turntable a couple of years back audio deva returns, this time to honor the renaissance of the analog experience. the team of italian designers and engineers have created a custom design egg-shaped turntable called OVO, which champions cable connection over wireless capabilities.

quality of sound has been considered throughout the design of the OVO turntable starting with audio deva’s opting to forego any wireless connection. the designers believed that an old style cable connection would achieve a better sound compared to the coding/encoding process necessary in bluetooth transmission.

not only this but the body comprises a 10mm anticorodal aluminium base, topped with a high precision inverse shaft equipped with an anti-resonant platter, made from a durable crystalline plastic. beneath this are three anti-resonant feet further keeping the negative effects of vibration to a minimum. the base has been CNC machined from anti-corodal aluminum and weighs 3 kilograms. this is the part that makes it custom design: the egg-shaped canvas can be either painted in white or customized to include a digitally printed pattern of your own.

audio deva has put the prototype ‘OVO’ through a long set of detailed quality tests to ensure each component was designed and made of the highest quality. the turntable is currently on kickstarter where investors can help with manufacturing costs by putting in an order to receive the egg-shaped turntable by march 2019. the turntable retails at €899 but users can pledge to order one at the discounted price of €479.
