C2 (c square) the change chair by miti desai from india
designer's own words:
change is constant. we live in a moment of history where change is so speeded up that we begin to see the present only when it is disappearingif we don't change, we don't grow. if we don't grow we aren't living. our world is evolving every second of every day. not a minute goes by without the birth and rebirth of an idea. change has become the world's middle name and we, the people, are her children. as we are growing as teenagers to adults we are constantly changing.
based on the concept of change, the chair is designed to be a rocking chair (which symbolises movement) but not the normal one way but two way rocking chair which moves in either direction, giving you a feeling of change and movement. as one sits on the chair, they rock on any side
( sideward and forward ) and is applicable for two people to sit on either side.
this chair is conceived as a two way rocking, so it can rock in either direction, giving you a feeling of movement and change as you sit on it. the chair is made out of frosted transparent and opaque acrylic, creating a very different aesthetic. this aesthetic is also rooted from the idea of change of black and white, night and day. the visual calming and harmony complement the functional effect which is an essence of al rockers. the scale of the rocker is oversized and the height is low for a more informal and lounging effect.
attached here are 3 images of different angles of the chair.
