POLLINPLE pavilion

POLLINPLE pavilion by aporía from

designer's own words:

The project is a pavilion-installation with the power to generate vegetal life, as the flowers do. To turn on this process the system requires an external agent: people.

The inspirational concepts that define this project are:
-The key function of the flower
-The pollination process
-The metamorphosis of plants

In the same way that a pollinating agent is captivated by the colour of a flower, in this project the visitors will be attracted by the camellia’s pink color of this flower-pavilion.
When the visitors-pollinators walks through the installation, they turn on the water irrigation sprinklers sensors with their presence. The water activates the plantable paper that cover the external layers, modifying them.
In this way, the success of the pavilion is measurable with the amount of germinated areas that it has.

The system requires a self-supporting tubular structure containing the basic structure connections to hold the mesh with movement sensors and irrigation sprinklers to activate the plantable paper.
This paper is pink like the camellia flower, and keeps inside the seeds of a fast-growing vegetable, like grass.

The morphology of this project is inspired in formal grammatical from Lindenmayer’s system, used to base model the process of plants growth, seeking to use Matsuyama’s logo as an axiom, considered as “mountain + pine tree”.
