little eden

little eden by Stephan from

designer's own words:

little eden is an indoor planter, able to simulate simple weather conditions indoors, in a small defined space.
the body is equipped with LED lighting that allows plants to grow, fans in the side walls create an airstream and a pump with watering nozzles in the top that lets water rain down on the plants inside.
Within the concept it is possible to adjust the amount of water from light spray to heavy rain, as well as adjust the lighting and the intensity of the wind, either by knobs directly at the planter or even with an software app. The tray for the plants could be filled with natural soil, material for hydroponics or just water.
The concept lets flowers and plants grow indoors and is additionally a design installation - it creates atmosphere by the simulation of different weather conditions with various combinations of sunlight, wind and rain, while these features also provide an effectual stage for the arrangement of flowers.
With little eden it is possible to bring the outside weather inside your room - either the weather directly outside your front door or - by making the system smart and connecting it with global weather database - the weather from every place on the planet, in real time!
In our times of climate change and extreme weather conditions little eden may help to boost awareness for the real implications of extreme weather by simply showing it in a small scale but directly and close.
