these contemporary picasso imitations lick, laugh, and cry with texture

designer omar aqil (OMARAQIL) wants to revive picasso’s abstract style in every medium. following his previous series,’ mimic I and mimic II, the pakistan-based designer released another picasso-inspired set of portraits: jokers, knights, kings, queens, and other abstract characters.

OMARAQIL used cinema 4D, octane, photoshop, and illustrator to create these dramatic characters. shiny cylinders gleam with texture. curved, matte tubes invite you inside their backwards-mouths. spiraling, staring, sharply pointing an abstract tongue — these asymmetric oddities laugh at us. they highlight picasso’s style in aggressive, grotesque, adorably hilarious ways.
