+tic's skin store is a grid of urethane foam and plywood

japanese studio +tic’s design for apparel workshop/gallery ‘skin’ is completely functional. located in the tokyo center, the store only required an epidermal renewal comprising the necessary facilities to store the equipment and encouraging the client’s passion — music. apparently, the design team needed no more than plywood and foam to meet the case.

the vertical plate of the grid frame is a panel made by pressing 3 pieces of 9mm plywoods. pipes are added to the ceiling beams so that clothes can be hung up.

+tic team covered the wall and ceiling with wave shape urethane foam which is frequently used as a cushioning material for instruments and equipment. the designers used it as a material symbolizing a client leading the music industry and soundproofing required as a function. the soft touch and relief give the impression of a soft space.
