watch your travel guide come to life with this exceptional display that methodically renders the missing parts of ancient icons. if you’ve taken any history course, chances are you’ve seen these iconic ruins, perhaps you even saw them recreated, but there is something so fascinating and exciting about watching the restoration unfold before your very eyes like you’re traveling retroactively in time.

despite their ‘ruinous’ condition, these structures have influenced many of history’s great architects, and continue to be an inspiration today. while it wouldn’t make sense to restore these structures due to many archeological and ethical concerns, our desire to see them complete is realized here by neomam in this project for expedia. the collection includes an wide array from rome to pompeii to the mirador basin in mexico. these sites have been depleted by time and by conquest, parts are reused, others just fall away with neglect. seeing them restored is a bit like hopping in the delorean and cranking the flux capacitor, and reversing their slow decay.
