lab5 architects plants a forest in skanska's new budapest headquarters

LAB5’s office for a swedish real estate developer skanska is an open space with no partitions but plants in budapest. due to the way the architects arranged the furnishing and layout, there is no disturbingly over-sight of the total office area.

thanks to the fact that skanska’s office is in a building developed and built by the company itself, LAB5 shows the original surfaces of the structure — the rough concrete ceiling becomes an elegant part of the interior. wanting to create a lively office with no walls limiting the sense of free space, the architects planted a forest spreading all over the room and dividing the working areas.

the heart of the office is a glazed meeting room which can be used for discussions and presentations held on a weekly basis. meanwhile — due to the company’s philosophy to let the colleagues freely choose a different place to work every day — when the room is free from the meetings, the team members can use it as a non-traditional working area.
