versailles laboratories' use of color highlights the building's functional aspect, by anonyme

anonyme studio based in paris completed the first stage of the INRA research center renovation in versailles. coloring the interiors in different bright paints, the architects highlighted the variety of the space’s purpose. 

located next to the palace of versailles, the venue is two buildings comprising laboratories, offices, and air-conditioned chambers. due to the specifics of the research work, all the spaces were overloaded with the materials and equipment, so the renovation aimed at building a new image of the interiors and creating a more rationally used space. 

the corridors now include storage rooms inbuilt into the walls. using strong colors and the visual complexity of utility systems, anonyme connected the space’s image with the building’s program.

the second stage of the renovation involved the design of two greenhouses. in order to avoid the impact on the ground and change the entire image of the center, the studio replaced the disorderly storages on the roofs with the greenhouses, thus they are directly hinged to the laboratories.
