serendipity studio + KWA architects' 'mist encounter' changes depending on natural light and breeze

first prize-winner of the program x-site hosted by the taipei fine art museum in taiwan, ‘mist encounter’ was designed and installed by serendipity studio and KWA architects. x-site sought to expand the syntax and aesthetics of architecture by presenting an architecturally-themed installation in the museum’s outdoor plaza.

the pavilion aims to form an awareness of the body through the use of mist, as well as create the consciousness of natural air conditioning. the constantly-evolving atmosphere gives unseen air flow a conditioning and comprehensible form, letting human bodies interact with ambient changes.

flowing among the white mesh structures, the mist creates spacial boundaries — which can be both blurred and distinct — thus changing the ambiance all the time. the summer sun and breeze also become important parts of the installation as they animate the structure throughout the day.
