zaha hadid design was established by the architect herself in 2006, pushing the boundaries of contemporary design by using technological and material advancements. its portfolio, comprised of a wide range of design disciplines like fashion accessories, jewelry, limited edition furniture pieces, exhibitions and set-designs, showcases her obsession with fluid lines and subtle, organic geometries.

as part of zaha hadid design’s 2018 collection, ‘pulse’ — a glassware set — was unveiled at maison et objet in paris, sustaining hadid’s power of invention.

‘my product designs and architecture have always been connected; some of our earliest projects were designs for products and interiors. these design pieces are very important to me and my team. they inspire our creativity by providing an opportunity to express our ideas through different scales and through different media; an essential part of our ongoing design investigation,’ hadid explained during her retrospective exhibition at the guggenheim museum, new york.

the ‘pulse’ glassware collection by zaha hadid design features vessels in different height and color, unified by the concept of vertical waves radiating upwards from a single point on the base. this results in a textural contrast between smooth and pleated glass. and illusion of simplicity is achieved through the even ripples and the cylindrical form. the color palette showcases a cool and crisp semblance while the seamless vertical channels across only a portion of the circumference in hand-blown glass present a complex technical challenge.
