the ‘KM22’ custom motorcycle is a striking build that combines a traditional figure with modern, sporty refinements. based upon a combination of moto guzzi bikes fused together, it is now redressed in hand-made bodywork with a porsche red and black finish. created by axel budde, owner of hamburg-based workshop kaffeemaschine, it now has the same minimalist stance, timeless finish, and performance capability that have grown to be signature of the company.

kaffeemaschine wanted to build the moto guzzi in a more contemporary style, that still had a 70’s / 80’s race bike appeal. while the bodywork appears to be old school, it’s actually formed of carbon fiber. axel shaped a new seat and tail unit with an integrated LED light, which now sits perfectly next to the magni-style tank. at the front is a guzzi ‘le mans 1’ style fairing, with a smaller headlight. the stainless exhaust is a KM part, while the regular hardware has been galvanized black. car fans might recognize the paint tone as porsche’s ‘lava’ orange, a color found on the ‘GT3 RS’.

the ‘KM22’s’ engine, transmission and rear drive are all taken from from a moto guzzi ‘le mans mk IV’. the studio has upgraded the capacity with 1100 cc cylinders and pistons, gas-flowed its cylinder heads, and raised the compression ratio with twin spark heads. this enhanced performance requires tight suspension, so it installed some adjustable forks from a yamaha ‘R6’. a set of classic brembo calipers were also fitted, while it now features a custom steering head and front axel, and some modified BMW triple trees.
