la grande motte, photographed by both stefano perego and roberto conte, is a popular seaside resort and port characterized by homogeneous architecture, and was built during the 1960s and 1970s. the 400 hectare resort  was single-handedly designed by the visionary architect jean balladur, from the buildings (bigger and smaller) to the roads width and from the vegetation to the height of the sidewalks up to the street furniture. with that being said, even though the architectures have a different design and show a different concrete geometry, it is quite clear from the first sight that they were designed by the same hand.

pyramids, triangles, circles, half circles and omegas, la grande motte was the perfect playground for photographers stefano perego and roberto conte to capture the essence of this retro seaside resort. ‘la grande motte appeared to us like a kaleidoscope of shapes and patterns,’ explain the photographers, ‘a true visual and hypnotic experience full of big and small scale surprises.’ the aim of this series of images is to highlight the geometrical complexity and extravagance of balladur’s rehabilitated project.
