david lachapelle reveals his final publications, 10 years in the making

renowned artist david lachapelle has revealed his long-awaited, latest and final publications — ‘lost + found, part I’ and good news, part II’. the two printed editions published by taschen mark the fourth and fifth installments of lachapelle’s five-book anthology, which began with ‘lachapelle land’ in 1996, continued with ‘hotel lachapelle’ in 1999, and was followed by ‘heaven to hell’ in 2006. the new books feature some of the world’s most recognized figures in the music, fashion, and film industries and chronicle lachapelle’s distinctive vision.

lachapelle’s ‘lost + found, part I’ forms a visual record of today’s societal and cultural challenges, expressed through his unconventional perspective of the world. featuring world famous figures such as david bowie, hillary clinton, lady gaga, kim kardashian, britney spears, amy winehouse, nicki minaj, and many more, the taschen publication chronicles lachapelle’s strongest images to date and includes a monumental curation of images that have never before been published in book form. the volume also introduces a 10 years worth of unseen work, where he offers a bridge into the sublime that leads viewers into volume ‘good news, part II’.

‘good news, part II’ surrenders to lachapelle’s contemplations of mortality and quest for paradise. the visually arresting new body of work features images of michael jackson, amanda lepore, tupac shakur, elizabeth taylor, and more, and attempts to photograph that which can’t be photographed. the volume represents the final chapter in lachapelle’s narrative, which has captivated a generation of viewers across the globe.
