russian defence manufacturer kalashnikov – makers of the AK-47 – unveils what might be russia’s next police gear: an electric all-terrain motorcycle. powered by a single speed chain drive motor, 50 bikes are scheduled to be delived to the moscow police for patrolling the city during the 2018 FIFA world cup, while it can also be used at mass public events such as marathons.

kalashnikov’s ‘IZH’ electric motorcycles were first presented at russia’s 2017 army expo. it features an LCD dashboard, an analogue speedometer, a thick, padded double seat, protective crash bars and some storage for luggage. its maximum power is 15 kW and boasts a power reserve of either 100 or 150 kilometers (62 or 92 miles) from a single charge, depending on the specification.
