carbondale blends history + modernity for dolce & gabbana's venice palazzo boutique

carbondale has designed the interior renovation of dolce and gabbana’s venice palazzo with a vision that celebrates both the richness of the products displayed and the city’s cultural history. the 800 square meter boutique is located on one of the main shopping streets — a busy passageway to piazza san marco. the design enhances the elegance of venetian culture preserved in the 1880s palazzo torres.

carbondale describes the project as an in-depth exploration and accentuation of contrasts between the ‘historical’ and the ‘contemporary.’ the lavish interior’s spatial organization was inspired by the italian palazzo model with distinctive rooms, each with a characteristically different colors and finishes. the architectural team describes the project and its vision: ‘eric carlson’s modern interior design pays homage to traditional italian and venetian artisans by working with centuries old family companies to craft spaces and furniture in marbles, stone and glass mosaics, inlaid wood marquetry, woven silk damasks fabrics and hand blown murano glass.’

the velvet seats are inspired by the tailor’s pin cushion

the high jewelry room draws inspiration from the mosaics of san marco’s basilica

the red rooms wall’s are lined with rosso levanto marble
