miklos kiss’s works incorporate various facets of architecture, fine art, design, and graphic design. for this year’s 2017 venice biennale, kiss goes undercover to provide his audience with a witty critique on consuming art. for an ongoing guerrilla art project called ‘goldenroach’ the hungarian designer has been smuggling 14-carat gold-plated cockroaches into some of the world’s museums and galleries, making them part of the display.

additionally, miklos kiss places the matching ‘goldenroach’ souvenirs and postcards into the museum gift shops for sale. going unnoticed, kiss has secretly placed his golden roaches inside the mumok, the saatchi gallery, the tate modern, the tate britain, the british museum, the hamburger bahnhof, the centre pompidou, the louvre and the MOMA since 2011. visitors take photos of the golden invaders and buy the goldenroach souvenirs in the museum shops. at the core of his work, the artist generates questions on how art might be interpreted by judging its location or the way it is being displayed.
