baltimore-based artist team jessie + katey undertook a huge urban intervention in the allston neighborhood of boston, turning an entire building into a giant site specific art installation. covering all sides and surfaces of the existing property, the mural has transformed the otherwise un-occupied site into a vibrant and engaging experience for visitors and passersby alike. taking almost one month to complete, the large-scale work builds on jessie unterhalter and katey truhn’s ongoing interest in creating socially engaging and active art for the public to engage with.

jessie + katey’s work explores themes of movement and symmetry, inspired by bold color combinations, patterns in nature, and woven textiles. on the building’s façade, the artist duo has inscribed colorful graphic motifs that swoosh and swirl across the site. inspired by the architectural surfaces of the environment, the dynamic painting curves around the building’s corners and spills onto the ground.
