life-size art installation coaxes participants into completing the painting

georgian-based multidisciplinary artist tezi gabunia’s art installation, ‘complete the painting’, reflects on the interactive trend of contemporary art. the series of painting encourages communication between the observer and the artist, where different scenarios are painted on large, life-size canvases. ‘the plot is incomplete and obscure, so the viewer is challenged to interact immediately,’ explains the artist, ‘to choose an action and take photos’.

tezi gabunia‘s ‘complete the painting’ series coaxes participants to document their interaction with the paintings. the paintings are unfinished plots, challenging the visitors themselves to complete the artwork by becoming characters of the story. ‘complete the painting was reflecting on the productive and shareable processes of the art’, says gabunia, ‘it was based on the fundamental values and the visions of the group: to make the work of art available for everyone!’.
