yamazaki kentaro design workshop has completed a second hair salon for the same client in the heart of the nakaen shopping street neighbourhood in tokyo. more compact in width but longer in length to the first location, the ‘re;sono’ salon explores the use of timber to create interior rhythm.

yamazaki kentaro orientated the front façade wall at a 45 degree angle. this subtly creates and draws attention to the depth of the interior through the glass frontage. in turn, passersby are attracted to the rhythm of the space created by the zig-zagging timber walls that establish each hair-cutting station. an inviting character is created through the material palette, artificial lighting and the plants that have been placed throughout. this all adds up to the ‘scene’ in which the architects created similarly to one of tokyo’s urban landscape.
