artur dabrowski 3D prints charming jewelry pieces with hidden stories

‘multiply like rabbits’ is a small object workshop, by brooklyn-based architect artur dabrowski, which focuses on 3D printed jewelry design. from rings, cuffs, necklaces and bracelets, the products and  branding focus around the concept of ‘depth’ in terms of formal language (shadow lines, composition, depth of field) as well as in meaning (details, storytelling).

‘although I am expanding the line with more architectural pieces, I use rabbits as characters to create this open-ended story,’ explains dabrowski about the ‘multiply like rabbits’ series. ‘everyone always asks “why rabbits?” I started drawing them in the margins of my notebooks during grade school and personify them to express thoughts, situations or feelings I was having. I think the imagery of it being personified is playful — the rabbit is cute, hops around, eats, multiplies… and lives naively in this world’.

as for his architectural series, the designer includes archetypes that have personal significance and value. for example, ‘brick arches were  an obsession of mine during architecture school. there is something very tactile and nostalgic that give them both timeless function and meaning. I was raised in a brick clad apartment building in brooklyn, so I associated the brick wall as a shelter for my introverted childhood. the arch became a metaphoric portal through which I could turn the corner, open up, and express myself while still proud of my introverted self.’

all jewelry pieces are made from high resolution 3D printed wax and lost wax casting, hand polished to a smooth finish. available for purchase, the collections are crafted using three different color finishes: brass, bronze and silver. 

‘brick arch ring’ (brass) – the piece is designed parametrically using a computer algorithm

brick arc ring (silver) – the design adapts to all sizes without changing the width or thickness of the brick

the ‘stair ring’ is part of the architecture series, representing the theme of ascension and descent

the ‘stair ring’ is also designed using computer algorithms

parametric design was also used for the catenary arc, to naturally fit the weight of the rabbit

the ‘rabbit choker necklace’ depicts the animal as part of a storytelling

‘falling rabbit tie bar’ is part of the designer’s own menswear accessory collection
