introducing the MUT design x sancal sound-absorbing ‘beetle’

influenced by a visit to the entomology rooms of a natural science museum, MUT design creates sound-absorbing panels in the shape of a beetle for furniture company sancal. in the interest of resolving the problem of unpleasant background noise, the product aims to find the right balance between sound dissipation and decoration.

MUT design x sancal mimic the appearance of a beetle

MUT design’s product for sancal is a decorative but functional design piece which works as an acoustic panel. the five basic shapes can be combined in any way by the customer and up to three panels can be attached to the same base. additionally, the beetles’ stands are made of oak and can be tinted in a range of colours. considering the diversity of textiles, colors and shapes, the design offers a boundless amount of combinations — simulating the biodiversity of beetles in nature.
